Jack Osbourne breaks down after sharing how he found out dad Ozzy had died

Jack Osbourne became emotional as he recounted the heartbreaking moment he learned about his father Ozzy's passing.

The Prince of Darkness' death was announced in a family statement on 22 July, stating that the 76-year-old had died 'surrounded by love'.

For those who may not know, Jack, 39, is the youngest of the three children Ozzy shares with his wife Sharon Osbourne, following his sisters Aimee and Kelly.

Now, a little over a month later, the TV star took to YouTube on Wednesday (3 September) to share an honest 16-minute video, paying tribute to his dad and discussing their last week together.

In the video's caption, Jack expressed to fans: "Hey everyone. It's been around six weeks since my dad passed, and before I dive back into work and regular podcasting, I felt the need to say something.

"This isn't a heavy episode; it's not a deep emotional dive. It's just me sharing where my mind's been and providing some context before moving forward."

He added: "Thanks to everyone who's reached out. The love and support have truly meant the world."

In the video itself, Jack struggled to hold back tears as he spoke about his father, specifically recalling the last moments they shared and how he learned the tragic news that he'd passed.

Jack recounted being by his father's side for Black Sabbath's final show on 5 July at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, and staying with his family for the following week.

Sadly, this was the last time he saw his dad alive, explaining how he was back in LA when he received the news.

Jack said: "My dad was great. He was in a good mood and happy.

"I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock on my door at around 3:45 in the morning. Someone who has worked for my family for about 30 years was knocking, and when I saw who it was, I knew something bad had happened."

He added: "I was informed that my father had passed," and paused for a moment, visibly emotional.

Jack continued: "Immediately, just sadness and pain. So many thoughts. You go through this wave of feeling sad, frustrated, and angry.

"There's a part of you that feels, I have to get there now, I must.

"There was a sense of 'OK, he's not struggling anymore. He's not suffering,' and that is something. I wish he was still here, you know?"

He went on to say: "I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a tough time, and I think people saw that at the show.

"But no one expected it to happen as quickly as it did, and when it happened, it wasn't on our radar."

Ozzy had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019, but his cause of death was reported to be a heart attack, according to his death certificate.
